THE STORY

Swaziland was one of the first countries we started exploring to back in 2017. It’s a very small country and we’ve become quite familiar with the western part of it. The country is beautiful, the people are friendly and it’s variety of dirt roads are superb.

We absolutely love coming back here to experience it on a bike. You’ll really dig it.

THE RIDING

This adventure will offer both tar and dirt roads. Getting out of Johannesburg takes a few hours of long tar roads before we reach the dirt roads of Mpumulanga and up to the beautiful pass leading up to the border of Swaziland.

After day 1 of riding you can expect a nice mix of tar and great dirt roads. Swaziland has many dirt highways connecting to towns all over. These roads are usually well maintained and also connect to secondary roads that will lead us to some unique locations.

Rider Skill Level Recommendation:
Must have prior off-road training or experience. NOT FOR BEGINNERS.

Road Surface:
The dirt roads we take our well traveled but still offer challenges along the way. No single tracks or trails will be taken on this trip.

ITINERARY

ACTUAL STOPS AND LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

  • The ride will start from Triumph Motorcycles in Johannesburg.

We’ll take the highway out of town heading towards Mpumulanga.

We’ll stop for lunch after some nice big twisties heading to the town of Kaapsehoep.

After lunch we’ll head toward the border through even more twisties!

  • We’ll have an early breakfast this morning and head out on the bikes shortly after.

Most of our day we’ll be spent exploring dirt roads in the area as we make our way north east towards Mananga.

  • More dirt on the menu today!

We’ll set out south from Mananga exploring more new dirt roads going up mountains and along the river.

We’ll end the day at a great spot, Hawane Resort. There will be some cold beer waiting on us as well as a pool!

  • The distance we have to go this day isn’t too far. You’ll have the option to go explore extra dirt roads or head to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary to just kick back for the rest of the day.

    The choice is yours!

Our final dinner will be a good one as we sit around the fire with the local warthogs!

  • Time to go home!

After a hearty breakfast we’ll gear up and head out of town. The option to leave at your leisure is up to you.
