THE STORY
For years the big mountains of Nepal have called out to us. If you’re into adventure riding it’s quite likely that they’ve appealed to you in someway to.
In February 2024, we set out to reccee a route from Pokhara to Upper Mustang that we are excited to offer again in October 2024 for a group of 10 riders.
While this is a motorcycle riding focused adventure, we’ll make sure to provide you with enough time to explore local monasteries, eat the local food, explore around local villages and ensure you have enough free time to make the most of your time in Nepal.
THE RIDING
The riding in Nepal will change each day. When we leave Pokhara we’ll head a bit south exploring some of the local roads before we make the push north to Upper Mustang.
You can expect to find a bit of tar, gravel roads, river crossings, suspension bridge crossings, a bit of single track and some good rocky challenging sections along the way.
With the altitude and the overall power of the Enfield’s you’ll be in good hands knowing you’re able to manage the ride at a comfortable pace.
Rider confidence is a must for this journey. We highly encourage you to make the time for off-road training prior to the trip or spend some time off-road on your own bike.
MOTORCYCLE RENTALS - Royal Enfield Himalayan
For travel in Nepal we highly recommend this bike as THE way to explore the country. It’s a lightweight bike with just enough power to make sure you and the bike stay out of harms way but can handle any obstacle that comes your way.
At Bonafide Moto Co, we don’t run tours — we curate adventures.
Real adventure comes with highs and lows. Some days are smooth, others test you. You’ll work for the reward, and when you reach the end, you’ll know you earned it.
Our journeys are designed to strip things back — backroads, effort, challenge, and connection. They push skills, take you off the obvious path, and bring like-minded people together.
Through Recharge, these trips go deeper than riding. They’re a reset — getting out of your head, back into your body, and learning to show up under pressure. The road becomes the teacher.
Adventure is a team effort. Everyone plays a role, and the bond that forms is why riders keep coming back — for the connection as much as the riding.
If you’re after an easy outride, this isn’t it.
If you want something that challenges you, grounds you, and leaves you changed — welcome.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Fly into Kathmandu
We touch down in Kathmandu, where the air is thick with colour, sound, and history. It’s the first taste of Nepal — chaotic, vibrant, and deeply alive. From here, the journey begins to slow us down and draw us into a very different rhythm.
Day 2: A day in Kathmandu
Before the motorcycle journey begins, we spend a day in Kathmandu — wandering its backstreets, temples, and markets. It’s a chance to slow down, adjust to the pace, and soak in the colours, chaos, and calm that sit side by side in this ancient city. A soft landing before the adventure truly starts.
Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara
We fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara, trading the city for open skies and mountain air. With a full day to explore, we’ll wander the lakeside, stretch our legs, and settle into the slower pace before gathering for our rider briefing. A chance to ground ourselves before our first day of riding.
Day 4 - Pokhara to Kusma
Get familiar with your bike with a ride through chaotic traffic, along winding rivers, quaint villages and countless corners! The route is designed to give you the confidence and local knowledge needed to tackle Upper Mustang.
Day 5 - Kusma to Marpha
After a hearty breakfast, we take the spiritual Kali Gandaki river north. It's an amazing route and the local villages are incredibly fun. We'll introduce you to our friends along the way and cross numerous suspension bridges enroute.
Day 6 - Marpha to Kagbeni via Dolpo track
To get prepared for the altitude to come, today we ride up to nearly 4000m to Muktinath, before descending down to Kagbeni at 2800m for the night. It's a stunning day where you will get some of the best views of the tour.
Day 7 - Kagbeni to Ghami
Today we enter the barren landscape of Upper Mustang. We pass small villages and ride towards Tibet until the mighty Himalayas are sitting proudly to our south. It's an amazing feeling to have crossed through the world's tallest peaks.
Day 8 - Ghami to Lo Manthang & Chosur caves
Ride the surrounding villages of Lo Manthang and explore the endless hills, chasing eagles along the way. We stop in at Chosur Caves to admire the limestone formations.
Day 9 - Lo Manthang to Kalopani
Follow the trail of mythical demons and dragons riding by the blood-stained cliffs of Dhakmar, the slain dragon at Ghami and spin the wheels of Nepal's longest mani-wall before bustling south to our favourite night of the trip - Micky's Palace.
Day 10 - Kalopani to Pokhara
Ever wondered what a knight felt like returning home from a victorious battle? Well maybe, just maybe, it was a little you do today. A freakin HERO! You have done it. Upper Mustang.
Day 11 - Pokhara to Kathmandu
We say goodbye to Pokhara and fly back to Kathmandu, giving the journey a quiet bookend. It’s a day to reflect on the road travelled, the mountains behind us, and the shared experience before heading home or onward.
