A 7 NIGHT ADVENTURE

4 DAYS ON THE BIKES RIDING SOME OF OUR COUNTRIES BEST ROADS & 3 NIGHTS WITHOUT THEM WHILST YOU ENJOY THE LEISURE OF SAFARI;

The 3 nights without the bikes will be deep in the African bush at a private lodge that’s especially for you. Each day you’ll have access to both morning and evening game drives, and leisure time for relaxing by the pool, reading and enjoying nature. All meals at the reserve will be prepared around an open-fire, where we can enjoy camp-fire conversations, cold beverages, and listen to the sounds of the bush until late into night. The Reserve is unfenced, Big 5 territory and provides opportunity for incredible game viewing & experiences in a remote setting far from mainstream experiences.

THE RIDING

This adventure will consist of both asphalt & gravel roads;

We’ll head north east out of Johannesburg on roads for the first hour or so and then spend the next 3 days of the trip on over 500km of gravel roads exploring parts of the Limpopo & Mpumulanga provinces. On day 3 we’ll make our way to the edge of the Mariepskop overlooking The Greater Kruger National Park before arriving into the town of Hoedspruit where we’ll ditch the motorcycles for a Defender 110 Game Viewer and head deep into The Greater Kruger for the next 3 nights.

On day 7, we’ll get back on the bikes heading south out of Hoedspruit through one of the most picturesque areas to ride in Southern Africa, Mpumulanga. We’ll pass through the Blyde River Canyon, God’s Window & Long Tom Pass before making our way back to Johannesburg mostly on asphalt.

Overall distance will be roughly 1300kms round trip. Motorcycles will not be ridden into the Greater Kruger area and will be left at a safe location under CCTV.

ITINERARY

ACTUAL STOPS AND LOCATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Check-in: Pablo House - Melville. We recommend all riders to book flights that arrive before 3pm into OR Tambo International Airport.
Departure: Pablo House - Melville

Depart from Pablo House in Melville by 8am after a light breakfast. We’ll head north on tar roads to the small diamond town of Cullinan (70km) and from there the rest of the 350km days ride will be on dirt roads before arriving into the fishing town of Dullstroom.

Arrival: Dullstroom

We’ll check into our accommodation that evening and then head out for dinner.
Departure: Dullstroom
Riders can catch up on some rest as we have a relatively mild day of riding ahead of us (150km). Breakfast will be somewhere in town along the main strip of restaurants. We’ll set out through town and head for the hills via twisty dirt lanes and then onto one of our favorite towns in South Africa, Sabie. There’s a variety of waterfalls for us to go and explore via both tar and dirt roads.

We’ll wake up at the famous Sabie River Camp and head to the Woodsman in town for a traditional South African breakfast. After exploring the surrounding towns, we’ll make our way to the dirt roads which will take you to the edge of the Mariepskop Cliff which overlooks the Kruger National Park and lowveld areas. We’ll make our way back down the trail and head to the town of Hoedspruit where the bikes will be left behind and we’ll pick up the safari vehicle. It’s a 2 hour game drive from the gate to the lodge where we’ll plan to arrive just in time for sundowners on the deck overlooking the dry river bed.

No more bikes. Let us take care of the rest as you sit back, relax and enjoy the African bush in a truly unique experience.
Umbabat Private Nature Reserve
Breakfast, lunch & dinner will be served to you. Each mornings game drive will depart before sunrise. Evening game drives will include a stop at sunset for drinks. Afternoons will be spent at the pool, or at your leisure. There will be adequate amounts of down time at the reserve.

An early morning game drive to the gate, followed by breakfast at the Bush Pub where motorcycles will be collected and we’ll make the long push home through the beautiful Blyde River Canyon.
Arrival: Johannesburg

THE FOOD

One thing you’ll find consistency with on any Bonafide experience is quality food that will rival some of your favorite restaurants. We believe it’s the extra 10% to making your experience, unforgettable.

Prior to your arrival in South Africa we’ll find out what all of your dietary needs are to ensure that all of your requirements are met at the lodge.

We offer guests both meat and vegetarian options for all meals, most meals are served on the deck overlooking the river bed, or served around the fire.

For this last adventure guests were treated to the following dinners along with a different paired cocktail each evening:

Pizza night: Prepared with a unique sourdough recipe on a home built pizza oven
Smash Burgers: Veggie / Beef patty’s served with simplicity and delicious toppings
Taco Night: Beef Shin / Bean Taco’s with freshly rolled corn tortilla’s
Steak Night: Sirloin / Mushrooms cooked quickly over a ranging fire

THE LODGE

As noted above, you’ll stay 3 nights in the Umbabat Private Nature Reserve at a private lodge just for you and our small team.

The Umbabat Private Nature Reserve is an 18,000 ha private nature reserve in Mpumalanga, South Africa. It is situated in an area bordered by Timbavati, Klaserie and Kruger National Park with no fences in between. So, there is no telling what you will see during your stay.
