RUN THE BORDER

“THIS EVENT WILL BE BACK IN 2024”

A 3 night motorcycle adventure along the border of Botswana and around Marekele National Park.

There’s a route along the border of Botswana (in South Africa) we’ve heard about for a while now where it’s common to see wild animals such as elephants, giraffes and buffalo peering through the fence as you ride by.

‘Run to the Border’ heads northwest out of Johannesburg to the vast open lands near Botswana where we’ll navigate alongside a mixture of dirt and sand roads near game reserves adjacent to the Botswana border, and around Marekele National Park.

WE WON’T BE CROSSING INTO BOTSWANA

THE RIDING

This adventure will see us navigating through a variety of dirt and sand roads. Riders will need to be comfortable riding in both of these conditions in order to complete this adventure.

Majority of the dirt roads we’ll encounter are public dirt roads that are easily accessible, but we may find ourselves navigating through single track trails amongst dense brush.

Rider Skill Level Recommendation: Must have prior off-road training or experience. NOT FOR BEGINNERS.
Road Surface: 60% TAR, 40% DIRT/SAND…LONG TAR ROADS NEEDED TO GET US WHERE WE NEED TO GO

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • DO I NEED TO CARRY MY OWN LUGGAGE? Yes. Although we have a support vehicle trailing the group we find it is best that riders manage their luggage while on the ride.

  • MY FRIENDS WOULD SAY I’M KIND OF A DICK. WOULD IT BE OK IF I JOIN? No. Please don’t. That violates our only rule, DON’T BE A DICK. We want all of our riders and attendees to have a good time, to treat others with kindness, respect the land we ride on and to feel welcomed.

  • I SEE THIS RIDE IS SPONSORED BY TRIUMPH, DO I NEED A TRIUMPH TO ATTEND? HELL NO! Although Triumph provides Bonafide Moto Co and our attendees with event support such as; an event Technician, repair equipment, motorcycle trailer, discounted rates on rentals and goodie bag items, all brands of bikes are always welcome on all of our rides.

  • I SEE YOU HAVE A TRIUMPH TECHNICIAN JOINING THE RIDE. I DON’T HAVE A TRIUMPH BUT WILL HE BE ABLE TO ASSIST ME WITH  ANY REPAIRS I MIGHT NEED? Yes. Our team technician tends to stay more occupied on non-Triumphs on our rides so you’ll be in good hands ;-) But seriously, we got you!

  • DO I NEED A PASSPORT? No. We will not be traveling in to Botswana, but rather along the border in South Africa.

  • DO I NEED TO BRING SOME FORM OF NAVIGATION? YES. We require that all attendees have some form of way to navigate the GPX route that we provide you with prior to departure. You don’t have to have a GPS unit but rather use your phone and some way to mount it on the bike is sufficient. This ensures that in the event you get split up with the group we know you have the route.

  • I’M SUPER KEEN TO CAMP. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO BRING? We will provide you only with the tent. To sleep comfortably we’d recommend you also bring some form of mattress pad and a sleeping bag. Outside of that, the sky is the limit as to what YOU need.
