Our venue for the retreat is a beautiful working farm just outside of Ficksburg called ‘Franshoek Farm Ficksburg’. WHAT TO EXPECT

A tattooed man crouches next to a small stump outside a hut with a thatched roof, sunlight shining on his back, wearing dark clothing with a gray towel draped over his shoulder.

A Weekend That Feels Like Home
This isn’t a retreat—it’s a gathering. Meals are shared, conversations flow, and bonds are built that often last long after the weekend ends. At Recharge, you can show up as you are and find belonging in the company of men who get it.

Discover the Magic of Recharge

  • Scenic walks and hikes to reconnect with the land—and each other

  • Steam hut sessions to open and close the weekend

  • Farm-to-table meals shared around the table

  • Real conversations, real laughter, and lasting brotherhood

Recharge is your chance to reset, to find strength in connection, and to head back into life lighter, sharper, and fully recharged.

Explore, Relax, and Reconnect
Over the weekend you’ll hike scenic trails, sit shoulder-to-shoulder around the fire, and take part in activities that spark conversation, laughter, and reflection. From steam hut sessions to campfire chats, everything is designed to strip away the stress of daily life and remind you of the power of simple, honest connection.

Brotherhood and Growth
Recharge is about community—men coming together, learning from one another, and building resilience side by side. It’s a space to:

  • Leave behind the weight you’ve been carrying.

  • Strengthen your sense of purpose and confidence.

  • Find support in the stories and experiences of other men.

ACTIVITIES

OVERNIGHT IN THE CAVE

Our second night of the weekend will be spent here in the Cave which is a short hike up from where we’ll park the vehicles. The views from the cave are incredible and provide you with great perspective as to where you are.

This cave has a lot of history and is known for hosting a variety of traditional ceremonies over the years.

The cave features plenty of spots to sleep, spots to build fires, a natural kitchen & braii area, multiple hiking trails from it and also a nearby waterfall with fresh spring water.

FIRE WALKING

Few experiences test your courage and focus quite like walking barefoot across glowing embers. At Recharge, firewalking isn’t just about the physical act—it’s about breaking through mental barriers and proving to yourself what you’re truly capable of.

Guided safely and with intention, this powerful activity is designed to push you beyond your comfort zone. As you take those steps across the fire, you’ll feel the rush of adrenaline, the stillness of focus, and the deep sense of achievement that follows.

It’s not about the flames—it’s about the brotherhood standing alongside you, cheering you on, and sharing that moment of triumph together. Firewalking becomes a symbol: if you can conquer the fire, you can face anything life puts in front of you.

STEAM HUT EXPERIENCE

Across the Recharge weekend, we’ll gather in the steam hut to both open and close our time together. This outdoor steam hut, tucked away at WetLove, is the perfect setting to slow down, reset, and share quiet moments as a group. With a natural plunge pool fed by mountain water and sweeping views across the valley, it’s as grounding as it is refreshing.

Beyond the incredible setting, steaming offers powerful benefits—improved circulation, reduced stress, quicker recovery, and an overall sense of clarity and release. It’s a simple yet profound way to connect with yourself, the land, and the brotherhood around you, leaving you lighter and sharper for the journey ahead.

FARM FRESH FOOD

At the farm they have their own garden which has been on the farm for over 30 years. We believe an essential part to this retreat is making sure you eat healthy and wholesome foods during your time here.

We’ll make sure all of the meals are hearty, nutritional and give you the right nutrients you need to take on the day ahead. You’ll even be provided fruits and a great trail mix for the hike.

While there are lots of veggies on the property that will be the focus, we’ll also provide you with a traditional South African braai or Potjiekos meal.

FIRE SIDE CHATS

As with all Bonafide adventures, we’ll have the fires going every night and there will always be a seat there waiting for you. We find sitting around the fire at the end of the day marks the completion of a long day, a central meeting point for everyone and a place for you to always feel welcome.

Our time and chats around the fire are an opportunity for you to feel safe, to be heard, share whats on your mind and for others to listen. We ask that you respect those who want to share, be kind, be respectful and cast no judgement on to those who are willing to share.

We ask that the conversations and things you hear during the retreat stay within this circle of Men who joined us.

HIKING AT RECHARGE

Hiking is a central part of the Recharge experience—an opportunity to get moving, breathe deeply, and reconnect with the land. Throughout the weekend, we’ll step out onto scenic trails that take us through rugged terrain, open valleys, and ridgelines with views that stop you in your tracks. These hikes aren’t just about exercise—they’re about clearing your head, finding perspective, and walking side by side with other men on the same journey.

For those looking for something extra, we’ll also offer optional sunrise hikes to start the day with clarity and intention, as well as silent hikes that give space for reflection without the need for words. Whether you’re chasing the first light over the horizon or enjoying the stillness of a quiet trail, these moments on foot are where a lot of the weekend’s magic happens.

It’s safe to say that as men, we like to know where we need to be and when. The itinerary below lays out the full flow of the weekend, but we’ll keep things flexible so there’s plenty of space for personal time and spontaneous moments.

Note: This is not a motorcycle-focused event. You’re welcome to arrive by whatever means suits you best. The last stretch to our accommodation includes a 15km gravel road with a couple of water crossings—easily managed by most vehicles. If you’d like to bring your bike along, you’ll find plenty of gravel tracks in the area to explore on your own.

Frequently Asked Questions — Recharge

1. What is Recharge?

Recharge is a space for men to step away from the noise, reconnect with themselves, and find strength in brotherhood. Through weekly walks and immersive weekends away, we focus on men’s wellness, adventure, and authentic connection. It’s not therapy or a retreat — it’s a movement built on honesty, purpose, and growth.

2. Who can join?

Any man who’s ready to show up — for himself and for others. There’s no age limit, no membership requirement (yet), and no expectations besides being open and respectful. Whether you’re looking to clear your head, build connections, or rediscover your fire, you’ll find your place here.

3. How do I join a Recharge walk?

It’s simple — just show up. Follow us on Instagram or join the Recharge WhatsApp group for weekly updates on time and location. Our walks are free, open to all men, and happen in various parts of South Africa.

4. What happens on a Recharge weekend?

Recharge weekends are where things go deeper. We combine physical adventure with meaningful practices — think hiking, cold immersion, fire circles, honest conversations, and moments of stillness. It’s designed to challenge you, ground you, and remind you what really matters.

5. Is this religious or therapy-based?

No. Recharge is open to all belief systems and isn’t tied to religion or therapy. It’s about real men, real connection, and real growth. We hold space for men to talk, reflect, and reconnect through nature, movement, and brotherhood.

6. Do I need to be fit or outdoorsy to join?

Not at all. Recharge is about connection, not competition. Whether you’re fit, out of shape, or somewhere in between — you’re welcome. The focus is on being present, not being perfect.

7. How can I host or start a Recharge walk in my area?

We’re expanding across South Africa and would love to have more men leading walks in their communities. If you’re interested, reach out to us — we’ll guide you through the simple steps to start your own Recharge branch.

8. What should I bring to a Recharge weekend?

You’ll get a packing list before each event, but generally: bring clothes for comfort and warmth, a notebook, a good attitude, and a willingness to disconnect from your phone and reconnect with what’s real.

9. Why does Recharge matter?

Because men need spaces like this. Too many of us carry silent burdens, and Recharge gives us a way to let go, open up, and rebuild — together. It’s a reminder that strength isn’t about going it alone. It’s about showing up, side by side, and walking forward together.
