3 WEEKS TO GO UNTIL THE SABIE BUBBLE RUN

There’s just under a month left until our biggest Sabie Bubble Run ever!

Some of you know the drill as it’s not your first time at the event but we thought this newsletter would be a helpful way to make sure everyone will be ready to go come December 12th.

If this is your first Sabie Bubble Run, let me tell you something, you’re in for a treat! This is always our favorite event of the year as it’s a great way to unwind from a long year, and after the year we’ve all had this one is going to be quite special.

We want to make sure you’re as prepared as possible for the event so here is your weekly checklist to keep you informed of what’s going on!

Sabie Bubble Run Flash Tattoo Event

As our tradition goes, it’s not a Bubble Run without first having our flash tattoo event!

  • Where: Triumph Motorcycles

  • When: Sunday November 22nd

  • Time: 0800-1400 (we’ll see how we go)

  • Vibe: If you don’t want to get a tattoo come hang out anyway. This is a great way to meet everyone joining on the ride and an excuse to get out on the bike on the weekend. Coffee, water and Jack Black Beer will be available on the morning. If you’d like to bring food you can also do that!

Tattoos will be on a first come first serve basis and are limited to the flash that is designed for the Sabie Bubble Run. Tattoos are R500/each and are limited to 1 on the day to make sure everyone has a chance to get one. Payments can be made using a card with our Yoco machine. No cash will be accepted.

4 THINGS YOU CAN DO NOW!

  1. GET YOUR BIKE SERVICED. If your bike hasn’t been serviced in a long time or you don’t know when it was last serviced, now is the time to get this done. The last thing you want on the Sabie Bubble Run is a breakdown due to negligence.

Regardless of what brand of bike you are taking on the run, our partners at Triumph Motorcycles are offering a FREE Bubble Run checkup on your bike. So lets say you’ve got a BMW and want to see if your bike is ready for a long ride, take it there, tell them you’re going on the Bubble Run and they’ll give it a check over, for free!

For those that are in need of a service Triumph is also offering 15% off of services and merchandise for the SBR.

  2. CHECK YOUR TYRES. Overall we will do roughly 1500kms throughout the Sabie Bubble Run. The road surfaces out in Mpumulanga demand a decent set of tyres on your trip, and we can often times get bad weather. Triumph can also offer discount on tyres and can check them out for you as part of their FREE checkup.

  3. PREPARE A PACKING LIST. Everyone is different when it comes to packing for trips but we’ll give you our brief recommendations of what has worked for us over the years

    • Sunglasses

    • Riding jacket

    • Rain gear - we typically have days of rain so this is an essential item

    • Cash - may make it easier when paying bills

    • Change of riding pants (if it rains - or you can get by with the same pants for the run, the ladies may disagree lol)

    • Headlamp

    • Suntan lotion

    • Costume: there is a pool at camp, rivers and places we will swim

    • Towel

    • Camping chair - if you have a portable chair you can bring, do it. The chairs at camp aren’t the most comfortable and this would be great for you to bring.

    • Camping gear (if you chose to camp) - sleeping bag, mattress pad, inflatable pillow

    • Shower supplies

    • YOU WILL NOT NEED KITCHEN UTENSILS. DINNER IS CATERED AT CAMP, ALL OTHER MEALS WILL BE OUT ON THE TOWN.

  4. DRY RUN OF PACKING YOUR BIKE. Not all bikes are created equal when it comes to packing. If you’ve never packed for a multi-day trip we HIGHLY recommend that you pack a few days before the run, figure out what bags you are taking and attempt strapping them to your bike so you can see if your original plan is going to work or not. We have found over the years that if you aren’t prepared or comfortable with your packing it can lead to items falling off the bike along the way.

Strong straps are recommended and we would discourage the use of bungee chords as your primary source of securing items down.

  5. GET YOUR SABIE BUBBLE RUN MERCHANDISE. For everyone who signed up you’ll receive the event mugs in your goodie bags. If you would like to order a t-shirt or event poster now is a good time to do that. We will have a limited amount of shirts available at the run, but if you want to make sure you get one we’d recommend ordering one now and it will be placed into your goodie bag.
